Cleaner, Renewable Energy
Marin Clean Energy (MCE) was formed by Marin local communities to provide residents and businesses with more of the clean electric power they want at competitive rates with the same reliable service.
The renewable energy that Marin Clean Energy gets from sources like solar, wind and hydro helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming, keeps our air clean and eases our dependence on dirty fossil fuels.
The 25 percent renewable energy that Marin Clean Energy provides is double what PG&E provides. And Marin Clean Energy will boost its renewable energy content to more than 50 percent by 2015.
Same Reliable Service
Marin Clean Energy doesn't replace PG&E. Marin Clean Energy simply purchases the renewable energy. PG&E continues to deliver the energy through its wires to your home or business. PG&E also continues to repair and maintain your power lines, sends your monthly bill and provides customer service.
And Marin Clean Energy is subject to the same strict requirements as PG&E and other private and public utilities for ensuring that it has the energy necessary to meet customer demand.
Competitive Rates
Marin Clean Energy knows that along with cleaner energy and reliable service, our customers want stable, competitive rates. That's why Marin Clean Energy is committed to keeping its rates competitive with PG&E's. And we expect over time to beat PG&E's rates, particularly as we work to purchase energy from local sources like rooftop solar.
Marin Clean Energy sets its rates locally. And our rates reflect Marin's unique energy demands and geography - you're not paying higher rates here to keep rates lower elsewhere.
